Kobe Asian Plaza

Kobe is home to many citizens from other Asian countries. The Kobe Asian Plaza, set up by KIC in Nagata-ku, Kobe (about 100 meters north of JR Shin-Nagata Sta.), serves as a center of communications with Asian countries and offers the following programs:

  • Collecting and providing information and documents related primarily to Asia
  • Providing citizens with educational programs on the art and culture, etc. primarily of Asia (international communications lectures for citizens, seminars to experience Asian cultures, Asian Language Salon, Salon for Reading Asian Books, etc.)
  • Dispatching international students, etc. to children’s clubhouses (jidokan) in the city to offer educational programs to promote children’s international understanding
  • Other programs for promoting international communications and harmony of diverse cultures

Hours 10:00-17:30, Monday to Saturday (except Wednesday)
Closed Wednesdays, Sundays, national holidays, and New Year holidays

Disaster Prevention Handbook and Disaster Prevention Card

Handbooks and small cards are available in multiple languages for foreigners who cannot easily communicate in Japanese. These give simple instructions on how to prepare for disasters and what to do if a disaster strikes. You can communicate by showing the handbook or card at facilities, etc.
